The lone red seat located in Right Field Section 42, Row 37 and seat 21 is to signify the longest ball ever hit in the ball park. The current record holder it Ted Williams and officially it was measured at 502 Feet, but online according to Hit Tracker, the ball if unobstructed would have went 520- 535 feet!.

On June 9,1946 was when Ted Williams bestowed the longest home run from Detroit’s pitcher Fred Hutchinson. At this time the hit happened. the seat was the old traditional style bleacher seating and today they are individual seats.
